Of course, that may just be the cover story somebody circulated. Perhaps these are really lions being trained for super secret missions on the Western Front, where they infiltrated behind enemy lines and then attacked the Germans from the rear. Their tamer went on to become M, James Bond's boss. She quipped in later years that the lions were more tractable than Bond.
